Two separate techniques were used to create this vase; the figures-one of whom has a Mithraic hairstyle-are reliefs in appliqué, while the vegetal motifs of water lily leaves and arabesques were applied in slip. This ceramic form (Dechelette 72) appeared in the late 2nd and in the first half of the 3rd century and was produced in Central Gaul.
