Dating

The theatre's layout, which allows us to classify it as a classical structure, does not offer any elements for dating it. Constructions of this type existed throughout the first two centuries of the current era. The most recent coin found in the rubble of the cavea foundations bears the effigy of Vespasian (69-79). A coin from the Antonine period (138-161), which was found beneath an adjacent roadway, may date from a second state of the building or a refurbishment.

Théodore Vacquer favoured a date around the second half of the 1st century. In any case, it is very likely that the monument was dismantled starting in the 4th century.
